Remove the engine oil dipstick from the crankcase

Construct a fitting to adapt a water manometer to the dipstick tube. You will need:

(1) 1/2” NPT female pipe tee

(2) 5/8” Hb x 1/2” NPT male beaded hose barb fitting

(3) 1/2” x 1/4” NPT pipe reducer

(4) 5/16” Hb x 1/4” NPT male hose barb fitting

(5) 1/2” NPT hollow hex pipe plug

Assemble the fittings as shown.

Connect a short section of hose between the dipstick tube and the 5/8” Hb x 1/2” NPT male beaded hose barb fitting (2).

Connect the water manometer to the 5/16” Hb x 1/4” NPT male hose barb fitting (4).

Run the engine until the coolant temperature is approximately 84 °C (183 °F)

Record the values measured with the water manometer at each interval listed below. Values should not exceed 30.59 cm H₂O (12.04 in H₂O).

 

Low idle

1500 RPM

High idle (rated speed)
