Technical Description:

1) A phase difference (deviation) between the engine speed main sensor (crankshaft position sensor) pulse and engine speed sub sensor (camshaft position sensor) pulse is diagnosed.

 

Description of Malfunction:

1) Detect the phase difference between engine speed main sensor (crankshaft position sensor) pulse and engine speed sub sensor (camshaft position sensor) pulse.

 

DTC Set Condition: .

1) DTC Detection Condition: :

1. a) Battery voltage is in the range of 10 to 16 V.
2. b) Engine speed is in the range from 700 to 1,000 r/min.
3. c) Engine coolant temperature is 60 °C {140°F} or higher.
4. d) A difference between an actual engine speed and a target engine speed is 20 r/min or less.

 

Judgement Criteria:

1) A phase difference between the engine speed main sensor (crankshaft position sensor) pulse and engine speed sub sensor (camshaft position sensor) is 7° or more for 1 second or more continuously.

 

Reset Condition:

1) After restoration to normal condition.

Indication, Warning or System Control Regulation When The DTC Is Set:

1) MIL: ON .

2) SVS light: OFF

 

Symptoms On The Vehicle The DTC Is Set:

1) Symptoms On The Vehicle Due To Backup Control (Fai Safe Function):

1. a) None

2) Symptoms On The Vehicle Due To Malfunction:

1. a) None

 

Pre-Inspection Work:

1) Check that the battery voltage is in the normal range.

After-Inspection Work:

1) Clear all past DTCs.

2) Check that no DTC is detected after test drive.

 

Possible Causes:

1) Camshaft gear: Check assembly.

2) Flywheel: Check for miss assembly.

3) Engine speed main sensor (crankshaft position sensor):

4) Check the installation position.

5) Engine speed sub sensor (camshaft position sensor): Check the installation position.
