How to Renew & Adjust Pneumatic Actuator for Scania C,K Series Truck

Procedures:

Renewal – Pneumatic actuator, 9, 13 and 16 litre engines [XPI, gas]

Removing the pneumatic actuator

1.Unplug the connector for the EGR valve position sensor (3).

2.Detach the compressed air line from the actuator (2).

3.Undo the screws as illustrated (1).

 

Fitting the pneumatic actuator

1.Fit the actuator. Tighten the screws.

2.Attach the compressed air line to the actuator.

3.Plug in the connector for the EGR valve position sensor.

 

Adjusting – Pneumatic actuator, 9, 13 and 16 litre engines [XPI]

 

1.Apply basic settings to the actuator

• Keep the EGR valve closed.
• Apply basic settings to the actuator by adjusting the link yoke so that the actuator can easily be pressed over the threaded dowels on the EGR valve.

 

2.Pre-load the actuator

• Remove the actuator.
• Pre-load the actuator by screwing the link yoke 2 turns which corresponds to 3 mm.
• Fit the actuator on the EGR valve by carefully pushing out the pre-loaded piston rod using a spanner or by applying compressed air.

3.Fit the nuts and washers.
