How does reverse parking sensors work?

Before install reverse parking sensors,we need to know it’s work principle. When star reversing, shift into reverse the ,then reverse light lids and the control box sends a command to the sensors which transmit calibrated sound waves that bounce really fast between the car and an obstacle. When the distance from your vehicle to the obstacle gets smaller, the parking sensors system, based on factory presets, will automatically calculate how fast the sound wave travels back and it estimates the remaining gap.
The control unit receives the data and then provides audible feedback. As the distance reduces, the beeps from the buzzer are more and more intense, and at close distance you’ll hear a constant beep. Other units also provide a digital display, so the driver can see how much space he has left. The direction indicators reveal where the obstacle is located. As more bars light up in each indicator, the obstacle becomes closer.

Installation procedure

  • Drill 4 holes on your car rear bumper for reserve sensors placement

Mark the holes location out on rear bumper establishing where the sensors will go.Usemasking tape and marking pen to mark the locations where you want the sensors to be located. After making reverse location, you need to take the drill to drilling holes for the installation of the reverse parking sensors. Most of the time,a special drill bit will come with the installation kit that is the right size for the sensors. When you finish drilling holes, you should clean up the rough edges or shards that may be left behind.

Note:make sure that you choose areas of the bumper that are relatively flat.If they are angled up or down or from side to side, the sensors will not work correctly. In order to detect things behind your vehicle accurately, the sensors must face straight ahead.

Plug sensors into the control box, connect the control box to one of your parking lights. You’ll need to refer to your car owner’s manual for instructions on locating the wiring harness and tapping into the power leads for the parking light. Then, test the connections and make sure the control box in the sensors are working correctly. Once you have finished testing the sensors in the control box, disconnect the sensors. Also, disconnect the car battery to avoid shock or injury while installing the new reverse parking sensors system. Then, follow the directions for mounting the sensors on your bumper.
