How to Change Travel Bake Oil for Liebherr R9600 Excavator

This instruction show you guide on how to change travel brake oil for Liebherr R9600 hydraulic excavator.

DANGER

Unwanted movement of the machine!

 

Risk of death.

Tell the personnel that you do the maintenance.

Make sure that the machine is safely parked on firm and level ground.

Make sure that the machine is in the position for the maintenance with the working tool anchored in, the ground.

If necessary:

Chock the track chains.

Use the applicable tagout and lockout devices on the travel pedals.

 

WARNING

Hot oil!

Risk of burns.

Use the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Do not touch hot oil or hot surfaces.

 

Travel gear: drain the oil from the travel brake

Make sure that the following preconditions are met:

The machine is safely parked on firm and level ground.

The travel brake oil is at operating temperature.

Make sure that the following tools are available:

Used oil container

Put the used oil container below the drain plug 3.

Release the travel brake: push the travel brake switch S235 on the control board.

 

The travel brake is released.

The oil can flow fully out of the travel brake.

Remove the bleed and filler plug 1.

Remove the drain plug 3.

Drain the used oil in the used oil container.

When all the used oil is drained, install the drain plug 3 again: tighten to 40 Nm.

Install the bleed and filler plug 1 again.

Operate the travel brake again.

 

Travel gear: fill the travel brake with oil

Make sure that the following preconditions are met:

The machine is safely parked on firm and level ground.

The new oil is approved.

Remove the bleed and filler plug 1.

Remove the level plug 2.

Release the travel brake: push the travel brake switch S235 on the control board.

The travel brake is released.

The oil can flow fully in the travel brake.

Fill with oil through the bleed and filler plug 1.

Get the correct oil level: the level must be at the level of the level plug 2.

When you get the correct oil level, install the level plug 2 again: tighten to 20 Nm.

Install the bleed and filler plug 1 again.

Operate the travel brake again.
