5) Condition for Setting the Fault Code
1. A loose contact in the wiring of the metering unit can result in a malfunction of the metering unit. In order to detect a loose contact, this function monitors only the frequency of the occurrence of very brief interruptions/short circuits between the metering unit and the ECU. In the case of longer lasting interruptions/short circuits, the hardware monitoring take case of the necessary diagnosis. The hardware monitoring already supplies information on brief interruptions/short circuits, which is used in this function. Loose contacts are considered with a short circuit to battery, short circuit to ground and open load.
2. Detecting an open load fault in the metering unit

If no errors are detected over the time period (3000ms), the metering unit will be considered healed.
