BMW 7 Series(E65 & E66) Ski Bag Retrofit Guide

This is a easy step by step guide on how to retrofit BMW 7 series (E65 & E66) ski bag.Hop it is helpful to you.

 

The installation time is approx. 1.5 hours,but this my vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it.

Important information:

The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only.

Subjuct to technical modifications.

 

Target group:

The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge.

 

All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals,circuit diagrams,servicing manuals and work instrucions in a rational order using the prescribed tools(special tools) and observing current health and safety requlations.

 

Installation information:

Before disconnecting the battery set the power switch on any electrical connections on the seat bench and rear seat backrests to “OFF”

 

Observe the tightening torque values for srew connections.The required tightening torque values are set out in the part information system(TIS)

 

Ordering instructions:

The trim on the rest armrest is not supplied with the retrofit kit and must be ordered separately in the appropriate colour.

 

Special tools required:

DISPlus,MoDic III or GT-1

 

Procedure of BMW 7 Series Ski bag retrofit:

 

Step 1:Preparations

Conduct a brief test
Set power switchs to “OFF”
The following components must be removed first of all:
Boot floor trim 51 47 101
Trim for rear closing panel,top 51 46 050
Left boot-wheel arch trim 51 47 151
Right boot-wheel arch trim 51 47 161
Trim for boot bulkhead (will be replaced) 51 47 140
Seat bench 52 24 …
Rear backrests,left and right 52 52 …
Rear armrest trim (will be replaced) 52 52 …

Step 2:Parts list

Legend:

A Ski bag cassette

B Boot bulkhead trim

C Speed nut(2x)

D Hexagonal self-tapping srew ST4.8 x 16(2x)

E Hexagonal screw M8 x 20

 

Step 3:To prepare the boot bulkhead

Remove the marked area(1) of the sound insulation(3) along the stamped line(2).

Carefully puncture the marked area(1) of the boot bulkhead(3) along the stamped line(2) working from inside the boot.

Install the boot bulkhead trim B using the existing expanding rivets(1).

 

Step 4:To install the ski bag cassette

Place speed nuts C on the frame of the ski bag cassette A.

Insert the ski bag cassette A with the interloks(1) into the openings in the boot bulkhead and push it as far as possible to the left.

Secure the ski bag cassette A using the hexagonal self-tapping screws D and hexagonal screw E.

Clip the rear armrest trim(1) into the ski bag cassette A.

 

Step 5:Concluding work

Set power switchs to “ON”.

Conduct a brief test.

Check the funciton of the ski bag.

Re-assemble the car.
