AVDI Read BMW MSD80 MSD81 DME ISN on Bench

This instruction show you the procedures on how to use AVDI & Abrites Diagnostics to read ISN for BMW Siemens Continental MSD80/MSD81 on bench.Here you need using the ZN051 distribution box or a DIY cable.

 

Procedures:

Remove BMW MSD81 DME from vehicle.

This is the MSD81 ECU that will allow the ISN to be read on bench.

Build connection between BMW MSD81 DME and AVDI

 

Here you also can use DB15 cable to connect DS-Box

 

 

Now we can operate AVDI software to read ISN code

Build connection to AVDI

Start with opening the BMW2 online software

Select “Manual Selection”

Because there is no CAS,you have to manually select the protocol

This ECU belongs to a E90 3 -series BMW chassis

Then click “OK” to continue

Click “Continue”

Do a quick scan

You can enter the unit to see its identification,programming date,etc.

Once you go back,you can enter “Keys and Start Synchronization”

Click “ISN codes”

Select “ISN in DME”

It will ask if CAS or DME replaced,click “Yes”

Now it AVDI will show you with the ISN code as below

You now have the ISN to this ECU.
