How to Update BMW ICOM/ICOM NEXT Firmware by Manual

Recently,some readers of car-auto-repair.com feedback that their BMW ICOM or BMW ICOM NEXT can not work correctly on BMW ISTA+ new version software.This error caused by ICOM or ICOM Next firmware old.So to solve this problem,you need to update the firmware.This instruction show the step by step guide for BMW ICOM and BMW ICOM NEXT diagnostic tool firmware update.

Procedures:

Step 1:

Connect BMW ICOM/ICOM NEXT to PC by internet cable/LAN cable

Run ISTA software,then click “Identify”à”Select vehicle”à”read out vehicle”—>“Start”

It will show you ICOM IP address:169.254.119.102

Open IE/IE Edge browser and input http://169.254.119.102:60080/

Then input:

ID:root   Pass:NZY1150263

Now you have login the ICOM manager,click “Update Firmware”

Download BMW ICOM/ICOM NEXT new firmware file on your PC

Then double click “BMW_ISPI_ICOM-FW_03-23-22.msi” to run it and finish

Now click “Browse” button and Go to C:\ProgramData\BMW\ISPI\data\TRIC\ICOM,select “ICOM-BootImage…bin” select firmware version you want.

Then select Image type SYSTEM,and click “Sent to file”

Here it ask you “Write the image file to the flash?”

Click “Yes”,it will take about 5 minutes to process

Now back to ICOM manager to select “Update Firmware”

Click “Browse”,and go to C:\ProgramData\BMW\ISPI\data\TRIC\ISTA\ICOM

Select ICOM Application…bin

Then select Image type to APPLICATION,and click “Send the file”

Then same step to click “Yes” to start update,it take about 5 minutes..

After finish please check the version information.
