How to Solve Ford Kuga C520 ABS Light On: C0037

Several days ago,a driver call Bill drived his Ford Kuga C520 with 79 thousands miles to my garage.And Bill described that his Kuga ABS dash light on.Here i write the progress of How to Solve Ford Kuga C520 ABS Light On: C0037.Hope it can help someone struggle with same problem.

 

Ford Kuga C520 ABS Light On and DTCs C0037:

 

Technicians read out the trouble codes:C0037 by IDS.The trouble codes C0037 mean:Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor (Subfault).

C0037:29 – Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor signal signal invalid

C0037:31 – Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor no signal

C0037:2F – Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor signal erratic

Here we only found C0037.It suggested that left rear wheel speed sensor or relevant wire connection fault.

 

Troubleshoot:

After removing left rear wheel,found the wire connector of left rear wheel speed sensor is normal,no loosening.And then removed the connector to check the terninal is also normal.Used multimeter to detect the wire it works correctly,no short circuit,it was inferred that the left rear wheel speed sensor was damaged.So technician replaced the left rear wheel speed sensor,but after replacing found the fault still exixt when performing road test.

 

Connected the diagnostic tool to test on driving,and monitoring speed data waveform of left rear wheel in the ABS control unit.Technician found the overall waveform is stable,but a large ups occurs when the tire turn an angle.It suggested that signal ring gear of left rear wheel speed sensor was abnormal.

 

Check the ring gear carefully and found there is a small piece of metal on the ring gear(show as below pic).Inferred the metal interfered the signal of left rear wheel speed sensor.

Solution:

Clear the metal on the ring gear of left rear wheel speed sensor.
