How to Replace Engine Fuel Filter for Mercedes W212

This instruction will show you guide on how to change the engine fuel filter on Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 Diesel engine(OM651), but the procedure is mostly the same for other models.

 

Procedures:

Open and close the fuel cap to lower the pressure in the tank

Remove engine cover

Use plier for click clamps part-nr 171 589 0037 00, these tools are not recommended by MB.

Remove hoses by hands or plastic tools

Hose clamps part-nr

13-14.5 mm A006 997 18 90

14.5-15.5 mm A004 997 20 90

Important: hose clamps should not be reused

Take out old filter then replace a new filter from BOSCH

Inspect the hoses for cracks, if you find damage the the hose, it should be replaced

According to the MB documents, key should be in position(2) under 5 seconds to fill the new filter before start.

Turn the ignition on, check for leaks

No leaks put the engine cover back
