How to Renew Valve Bridge Guide Pins for Scania C,K Series Buses

This instructions show you guide on how to renew valve bridge guide pins for Scania C,K series buses.

Renewal – Valve bridge guide pins, 9, 13 and 16 litre engines [XPI, gas]

The cylinder head must be removed when renewing the guide pins.

1.Remove: 1. Outlet valves 2. Intake valves

2.Fit shrink sleeve number 10 from 587 470 Pin puller.

3.Use 587 470 Pin puller to remove the guide pins.

 

4.Press in the new guide pins using 99 015 Press drift. Maximum press force 15 kN.

Information!

Check before pressing in that the tool is not deformed.

 

5.Information!

Check after pressing in that the valve bridge slides easily on the guide pin.

6.Refit all the parts in the cylinder head.

 

 

Renewal – Valve bridge guide pins on 9, 11, 12, 13 and 16 litre engines [PDE, HPI]

The cylinder head must be removed when renewing the guide pins.

1.Remove: 1. Outlet valves 2. Intake valves

2.Fit shrink sleeve number 10 from tool kit 587 470 Pin puller.

3.Use 587 470 Pin pullerto remove the guide pins.

 

4.IMPORTANT!

The distance from the lower rocker cover gasket surface to the top of the new guide pin should be 48.5 +- 0.5 mm.

Press in the new guide pins. If the guide pins are pressed in too deep, the cylinder head may crack.

Then measure the height from the top of the guide pin down to the steel ruler. Add to the previous measurement.

 

5.Refit all the parts in the cylinder head.
