JLG X14J Compact Crawler Gearbox Disassembly Guide

Here is an illustration show you guide on how to disassembly gearbox for JLG X14J compact crawler.

 

Preparations:

JLG Technical Library Service Repair+Parts Manual 2020 Download

 

Procedures:

1.Unscrew the 4 socket head screws M8x45 (29),grade 12.9, and the 2 socket head screws M8x75 (54), grade 12.9, which fix the hydraulic motor to the gearbox.

2.Remove the hydraulic motor from the flanged hub (15).

3.Remove the O-ring seal (28) from the hydraulic motor seat.

4.Remove the O-ring seal (16) from the brake port seat on the flanged hub (15).

5.Mark the position of the springs (27) as a reference for the reassembling step.

6.Take out the springs (27)

Notice:

TIGHTEN NOS.2 SOCKET HEAD SCREWS M8X15 AND TWO SAFETYWASHERS INTO THE THREAD HOLES OF THE FLANGED HUB (15) BY A MALE HEX HEAD WRENCH. THIS STEP IS NECESSARY TOPREVENT THAT THE BRAKE PISTON (26) COMES OUT DANGEROUSLY DURING THE DISASSEMBLING PROCEDUREINDICATED AT THE FOLLOWING STEP

7.Inflate compressed air into the brake port until the brake piston (26) comes out.

8.Remove the brake piston (26).

9.Remove the O-ring seals (23-24) and the backup rings (22-25) from their seats in the flanged hub (15).

10.Take out the brake shaft (19).

11.Remove the circlip (18) from the brake shaft (19).

12.Take out the brake disc unit (20-21).

13.Take out the sun gear (17).

14.Turn the gearbox upside down and by using a screwdriver remove the circlip (1).

15.Place the wrench into the plug (2), jack and remove the end cover (4).

16.By using a puller remove the pad (3) from the end cover (4).
INFORMATION
THE ABOVE OPERATION MUST BE EXECUTE ONLY IN CASE OF REPLACEMENT OF THE PAD.

17.Remove the O-ring seal (5) from its seat in the gearbox housing (9).

18.By using pliers remove the circlips (6) from the planet assemblies (7).

19.By using a puller remove the planet assemblies (7).

20.By using pliers remove the circlip (8) from its seat in the flanged hub (15).

NOTE: In order to proceed with the gearbox disassembly, it is now necessary to remove it from the ma-chine and bring it to a properly equipped workshop. By using a puller, push on the metal stopper and remove the flanged hub (15) from the gearbox housing (9).

21.Fix the equipment (ATZ.05.014.0) at the bearing (14)

22.By using a puller remove the bearing (14) remaining on the flanged hub (15).

INFORMATION
IN CASE OF OIL LEAKAGES, IT MIGHT BE NECESSARY TO CHECK AND EVENTUALLY REPLACE THE
LIFETIME SEALS (14), WHICH MEANS BOTH THE METAL RINGS PARTS AND THE O-RING SEALS.

23.By using a screwdriver remove the half seal (14) from the flanged hub (15).

24.Remove the O-Ring seal (13) from its seat in the gearbox housing (9).

25.By using pliers remove the circlip (12) from its seat in the gearbox housing (9).

26.By using a puller, push on the metal stopper and remove in the same time the spacer (11) and the bearing (10) from the gearbox housing (9).
